Radio and TV

Clarence had a booming baritone voice, even without a microphone, and became popular on the radio. He wrote and co-wrote multiple songs. His most famous song, “When It’s Sleepy Time Down South,” was adopted by Louis Armstrong.


In the 1950s, Clarence was cast as the piano played in 39 episodes of Casablanca.
